Iowa medical regulators have charged orthopedic surgeon Phinit Phisitkul, MD, with sexual harassment, unprofessional conduct and a violation of mandatory reporting requirements, according to an Aug. 9 report from the Sioux City Journal.

Dr. Phisitkul was scheduled for a disciplinary hearing April 24 and April 25 before the Des Moines, Iowa-based medical board, and had 20 days to respond to the allegations.

Dr. Phisitkul is a foot and ankle specialist at Dakota Dunes, S.D.-based CNOS and continues to practice.

"CNOS is aware that the Iowa Board of Medicine has filed a notice of hearing and statement of charges against Dr. Phinit Phisitkul and that Dr. Phisitkul has denied the charges. At this time, Dr. Phisitkul is under no sanction or restriction of his privileges. Since joining the practice, CNOS has found Dr. Phisitkul to be a competent clinician and person of integrity," a spokesperson for CNOS told the Journal.

Dr. Phisitkul was issued an Iowa medical license in June 2006 and spent 10 years at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, where he treated foot and ankle conditions.
