Dr. Simon Kelley was named chief of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
Dr. Kelley is also a professor of orthopedic surgery at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine, according to a Sept. 9 news release. He previously worked at the University of Toronto in Canada and held multiple leadership roles at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
"He is internationally known for his expertise in pediatric hip diseases, limb lengthening and reconstruction, and has developed several innovative programs to care for children from birth through childhood and adolescence," Larry Hollier Jr., MD, surgeon-in-chief at Texas Children's, said in the release. "Dr. Kelley will help us remain at the forefront of delivering personalized, high-quality, family-centered care to children with complex orthopedic diagnoses."
He has more than 15 years of experience as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, and he earned his medical degree from the University of Birmingham, U.K., and he completed his residency in Bristol, U.K. He earned a PhD in developmental and stem cell research at the University of Toronto.
