Florida State University’s Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine of Tallahassee and the Tallahassee (Fla.) Orthopedic Clinic have hired a joint assistant director of orthopedics and sports medicine research as part of a new FSU Health initiative.

Emilie Miley started in the new role at ISSM on Aug. 5, according to an Aug. 29 press release.  Her role is funded by both TOC and FSU Health.

Ms. Miley brings to her role more than 10 years of experience in sports medicine and orthopedics research. Most recently she served as clinical research coordinator in the department of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

The strategic partnership between FSU Health, ISSM and TOC aims to bridge the gap between clinical practice and academic research, while providing a more robust healthcare system for Florida residents.

Ms. Miley will lead research projects and work closely with world-class orthopedic physicians and clinical researchers.
