Three teenagers have been charged after allegedly stealing three safes full of drugs from Twin Cities Orthopedics in Edina, Minn., according to a Sept. 13 report from the Minnesota Star-Tribune.
The three suspects, Brandon Wayne Schopper, 18, and two juveniles, age 17 and now 18, have been charged with two counts of felony burglary and one count of fifth-degree drug possession.
In addition to robbing TCO, the three also ransacked a Panda Express and attempted to break into several cars before they were caught.
The felony robbery charges stem from the theft at TCO, where the suspects allegedly grabbed a fob key from the front desk and stole the safes, eventually cracking them open with an ax.
The suspects were caught Sept. 2 after police responded to a call of suspicious activity. The suspects were found in possession of fentanyl citrate, Dilaudid and midazolam, all taken from TCO's orthopedic urgent care facility.
When searching the suspects, police also found black ski masks, headlamps, flashlights, two Apple iPads with stickers on the back indicating they belonged to a medical facility, three pried-open safes and a narcotics log for TCO Crosstown Surgery.
A spokesperson for TCO confirmed to Becker's that the patient log was blank, and no patient data was compromised.
