75% of patients likely to recommend their orthopedic surgeon

Orthopedic

Patient experience scores rose across all settings in 2024, from ASCs to medical practices to hospital and emergency departments, according to an Aug. 20 report from Press Ganey.

While patient experience scores are up on average, these raises are not uniform or universal. They often differ based on patient ages, regions and races.

Patients tend to express higher loyalty in specialties related to planned patient admissions, where care is coordinated and patients receive presurgical preparation, consistent communication and reliable post-discharge support.

Conservely, experience scores are lower among "unplanned admission" specialties. Orthopedics was named the specialty with the fifth highest "likely to recommend" score, while neurosurgery was named the fourth highest.

Around 75.5% of patients surveyed were likely to recommend their orthopedic surgeon, while 75.9% would recommend their neurosurgeon.
