2 health systems investing in orthopedic centers

Orthopedic

In the last seven days, Becker's reported on two health systems with big plans for orthopedic facilities.

1. Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health plans to construct an orthopedic center at its Baxter, Minn., location, the health system said Nov. 20. The Essentia Health Musculoskeletal Center-Baxter will offer orthopedic surgery, podiatry, interventional pain care, imaging and other services, according to a news release. Essentia plans to break ground on the project in early 2025, and construction would take about 18 months.

2. Prisma Health is expanding its orthopedic services in Laurens, S.C., establishing freestanding offices for its orthopedics practice and outpatient therapies through part of a $2 million expansion project. The addition is intended to pave the way for the system to hire new physicians, team members and add future services. Prisma closed on the purchase of the two buildings this week, more than doubling its orthopedic footprint in the county. Services are slated to move into the new buildings early next year, with no lapses in care.
