Orthopedic surgeon Nathan Cafferky, MD, of Vail-Summit (Colo.) Orthopaedics, received the 2016 Rising Star Award from Vail (Colo.) Valley Medical Center.

1. The hospital awards a physician on the staff for five years or less who demonstrates exceptional leadership and patient care. The physician must also be active in the hospital and its community and utilize evidence-based practices.
2. Dr. Cafferky joined Vail-Summit Orthopaedics in August 2015.
3. The administrative staff of Vail-Summit nominated Dr. Cafferky. His peers and the hospital administration selected him as this year's honoree.
