J. Andy Sullivan, MD, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, will be honored at the 2017 Evening of Excellence, an annual gala sponsored by the Oklahoma City-based University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Alumni Association, according to NewsOK.
Here's what you need to know:
1. Dr. Sullivan will be recognized with the Dean's Award for Distinguished Medical Service.
2. Dr. Sullivan has spent 40 years at University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, during which he has served as chair of the orthopedic surgery department, president of the professional practice plan and chief medical officer of OU Medical Center.
3. Although Dr. Sullivan retired from his full-time practice in 2007, he still works as a part-time clinical professor in pediatric orthopedics.
4. The 2017 Evening of Excellence, slated for Jan. 26, 2017, has raised more than $3.2 million since its inception 33 years ago. Funds from the event go towards junior researchers at University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
