Robert S. Gorab, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and chief medical officer at Orange, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
Dr. Gorab specializes in joint replacement and arthritis surgery. He played an instrumental role in compiling HOI's annual outcomes report and is an attending physician and former department chairman at Orange-based St. Joseph Hospital.
A member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, California Orthopaedic Association and Western Orthopaedic Association, Dr. Gorab has also served as associate professor of orthopedics at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.
Dr. Gorab is a consultant for DePuy Synthes and is a board member of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Institute of Southern California. His arthritis and joint replacement surgery research is widely published and he regularly presents at national and internal conferences.
Dr. Gorab obtained his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh before interning and completing his orthopedic residency at the UC Irvine. He then underwent fellowship training in joint replacement and arthritis surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
