Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Burton Elrod of Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics

Burton Elrod, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Nashville, Tenn.-based Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics.

Dr. Elrod's professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Nashville Academy of Medicine and Tennessee Medical Association.

 

A 19-year veteran of the NFL Physician’s Society, Dr. Elrod has several professional team affiliations. He served as head team physician for the Tennessee Titans from 1997 to 2016 and as the head team physician at the

2002 NFL Pro Bowl.

 

Dr. Elrod earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. His post-graduate training included internships at the City of Memphis Hospital and Memphis-based Methodist Hospital. He completed a

residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Tennessee and a fellowship in sports medicine at the Inglewood, Calif.-based Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
