Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Leigh Ann Curl of MedStar Harbor Hospital

Leigh Ann Curl, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Baltimore-based MedStar Hospital.

Dr. Curl serves as head team orthopedic surgeon for the Baltimore Ravens, an organization she's been with since 1998, and assistant team physician for the Baltimore Orioles. She was elected president of the National Football League Physicians Society in March 2018.

A past team physician for the New York Mets, USA Women's Basketball and USA Women's Rugby, Dr. Curl was the first female team physician in the NFL, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Dr. Curl is an American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery fellow and an American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine member.

After receiving her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Dr. Curl completed both an internship and a residency at John Hopkins Hospital, also in Baltimore. She achieved fellowship training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
