Mariam Hakim-Zargar, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Torrington, Conn.-based New England Orthopaedic Center.
Dr. Hakim-Zargar serves as president of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society and sits on the executive board of Ortho New England, a Danbury, Conn.-based orthopaedic supergroup. Her other professional affiliations include the Orthopaedic Research Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
In her spare time, Dr. Hakim-Zargar coaches a middle school science bowl team, and she enjoys playing the piano and hiking.
Dr. Hakim-Zargar earned a master's degree from Boston University School of Medicine and an MPH at Boston University School of Public Health. She also graduated from the University of Louisville (Ky.) School of Medicine, completed a residency at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, and was a fellow at the Farmington-based John Dempsey Hospital and Hartford (Conn.) Hospital.
