Mark D. Miller, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and professor at the Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System.
An orthopedic sports medicine expert specializing in knee and shoulder arthroscopy and complex reconstructions, Dr. Miller serves as Harrisonburg, Va.-based James Madison University's head team physician. He is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel.
Dr. Miller has contributed to numerous textbooks and co-authored work for the Review of Orthopaedics. The author of more than 140 peer-reviewed articles, he established the Miller Review Courses to help physicians prepare for American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery exams.
Dr. Miller earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., and completed internship and residency training at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Miller completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He was later selected for a traveling fellowship in North America, and another in the Asia-Pacific.
