Fritz Boettner, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Boettner joined HSS in 2006 and serves as an assistant orthopedic surgery professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.
Specializing in arthroscopic surgery and minimally invasive total knee and hip replacements, Dr. Boettner concentrates on the nonsurgical and surgical treatment of early arthritis.
Dr. Boettner has received the Vitals.com Patients' Choice Award since 2009. Ortho Biotech and the Orthopaedic Research & Education Foundation honored him with the Award for Excellence in Blood Management.
Born in Germany, he has written an orthopedic textbook and for multiple scientific publications.
Dr. Boettner's professional memberships include the Orthopaedic Research Society, German Orthopaedic and Traumatology Society and Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Boettner graduated from Rostock, Germany-based University of Rostock and trained in China, South Africa and the United Kingdom. He completed an internship and residencies at Muenster, German-based University Hospital of Muenster. He underwent fellowship training at HSS, Spartanburg, S.C.-based Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and the Vail, Colo.-based Steadman Hawkins Clinic.
