James C. Wittig, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with Atlantic Health System in Morristown, N.J.
Dr. Wittig is also affiliated with Summit, N.J.-based Overlook Medical Center and Morristown Medical Center, where he serves as orthopedics chairman.
As one of approximately 100 U.S. surgeons with expertise in orthopedic oncology, Dr. Wittig is the medical director of Atlantic Health System's orthopedic oncology program.
Dr. Wittig wrote and co-edited Techniques in Orthopedic Surgical Oncology, which is the only textbook that details orthopedic oncological surgical procedures. He also trains international residents and fellows who come to the U.S. to learn his surgical techniques and approach to treating patients with musculoskeletal tumors.
A specialty fellow of the American Pediatric Association and Medical Society of New Jersey, Dr. Wittig is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, New Jersey Orthopaedic Society and New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Wittig earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed a residency at Columbia University Medical Center, both based in New York City. He then underwent fellowship training in cancer research at the Washington Cancer Institute and Children's National Medical Center, both in Washington, D.C.
