J. Kent Ellington, MD, MS, is an board certified orthopedic surgeon at OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute in Charlotte, N.C.
After earning his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., Dr. Ellington completed his orthopedic residency at Charlotte-based Carolinas Medical Center and a fellowship in foot and ankle reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.
With expertise in aspects of foot and ankle reconstruction, sports injuries, ankle replacement, trauma care and deformity correction, Dr. Ellington also serves as a clinical faculty member for Charlotte-based Atrium Medical Center. He is also a biology adjunct assistant professor at University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Dr. Ellington is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Foot and Ankle International.
Dr. Ellington is an inventor and consultant. He has developed many orthopedic implants used by surgeons in the U.S. and internationally. In addition, he has multiple patents. He has contributed to orthopedics literature with over 40 publications and has written multiple book chapters. He has been an editor of several books as well.
Dr. Ellington is also a private pilot, with multiple ratings.
