The American Osteopathic Foundation honored J. Michael Wieting, DO, as the recipient of its 2018 W. Douglas Ward Educator of the Year Award, Middlesboro Daily News reports.
Here are five details:
1. Dr. Wieting is the senior associate dean of Lincoln Memorial University's DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tenn.
2. With more than 24 years of osteopathic medical education experience, Dr. Wieting also serves as a professor of osteopathic manipulative medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation at LMU.
3. After earning his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Tulsa, Okla.-based College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Wieting completed his residency at University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics in Minneapolis and an electrodiagnosis and sports medicine fellowship at East Lansing-based Michigan State University.
4. Dr. Wieting is a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and American Academy of Osteopathic Examiners.
5. AOF's Educator of the Year Award recognizes an individual who upholds the highest standards of osteopathic excellence in teaching and who has made long-standing contributions to the academic profession.
