Greenwich, Conn.-based Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Specialists orthopedic surgeon Katherine Vadasdi, MD, will receive one of YWCA Greenwich's inaugural Women Who Inspire Women Awards in January 2019, according to Greenwich Time.
Here are six things to know:
1. With expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Vadasdi serves as director of the ONS Women's Sports Medicine Center in Greenwich.
2. Dr. Vadasdi is one four women being honored with the award, which recognizes women who have excelled in their professional careers and have given back to their communities as philanthropists.
3. A shoulder and elbow surgery specialist, Dr. Vadasdi is involved in ongoing research to curb opioid addiction among teens and athletes. She has been published in medical journals such as the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma.
4. Dr. Vadasdi is an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society and Connecticut Orthopaedic Society member.
5. In 2018, Castle Connolly named Dr. Vadasdi to its America's Top Doctor list for the fourth consecutive year.
6. After earning her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., Dr. Vadasdi completed her residency at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery and a shoulder, elbow and sports medicine fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
