L. Pearce McCarty, III, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists in Minneapolis.
Dr. McCarty is also affiliated with Minneapolis-based Abbott Northwestern Hospital, where he serves as chair of orthopedics.
With expertise in shoulder and elbow injuries, Dr. McCarty's additional specialties include sports medicine, rotator cuff and labral repair, Tommy John surgery and cartilage restoration of the shoulder and knee.
Dr. McCarty is an orthopedic consultant for St. Paul, Minn.-based Macalester College athletics. Previously, he served as a team physician for the Minnesota Twins.
He is a member of the MLB Team Physicians Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and American Shoulder and Elbow Society.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Dr. McCarty completed his residency at Boston-based Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and a shoulder and sports medicine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
