AAOS introduces analytics institute for orthopedic researchers — 3 insights

Orthopedic

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons launched the Registry Analytics Institute.

Three things to know:

1. The analytics institute is a resource for orthopedic clinicians to submit proposals for analytical data within the American Joint Replacement Registry.

2. The Analytics Institute application process consists of a preliminary and full application review.

3. Clinicians and clinician-scientists with an orthopedics-related hypothesis are encouraged to apply for inclusion. Applicants whose projects are approved will work with the AAOS Analytics and Statistical team to develop an analysis plan and project timeline for their project. All data analysis will be completed by AAOS and reviewed by the project team.

"Collecting clinically relevant data in a timely fashion and applying that data to improve outcomes for patients represents one of the most important goals of the AAOS Registry Analytics Institute. It is the arm of the Academy that will leverage Registry Data to help identify outcomes of surgical interventions," said Richard L. Illgen II, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and chair of the AAOS Research Projects Subcommittee.
