Orthopedic trauma surgeon Manny Sethi, MD, has been endorsed by the Political Action Committee of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons for the U.S. Senate.
Three takeaways:
1. Last week, Dr. Sethi officially announced his campaign for the open Tennessee seat, seeking to replace the Affordable Care Act, combat the opioid epidemic and tackle the immigration crisis along the southern border.
2. The PAC wants Dr. Methi to use his medical experience to advocate for change in healthcare on Capitol Hill.
3. He is director of the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute Center for Health Policy at Vanderbilt (Tenn.) University Medical Center and founder of Healthy Tennessee in Nashville, a preventative health nonprofit which aims to create comprehensive health and wellness fairs in the state.
"He exemplifies the very ideals we stand for and are trying to promote amongst both our membership and leaders in Congress. We look forward to helping Dr. Sethi grow a solid foundation of avid supporters and run a successful campaign for 2020," said Orthopaedic PAC chair John Gill, MD.
