Here are nine orthopedic surgeons making the news this week.

Orthopedic surgeon Kerisimasi Reynolds, DO, based in Fremont, Calif., was named 2019 Top Patient Rated Orthopedic Surgeon by Find Local Doctors. Dr. Reynolds is fellowship-trained in sports medicine and advanced arthroscopy and focuses on minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow.

Thomas Fehring, MD, launched the OrthoCarolina Periprosthetic Joint Infection Center in Charlotte, N.C., with Brian Curtin, MD, Bryan Springer, MD, Keith Fehring, MD, and Jesse Otero, MD, PhD, to create a joint infection center for complex cases.

OrthoAtlanta added Domenic Scalamogna, MD, to its Georgia practices in Fayetteville, Newman and Peachtree City. Dr. Scalamogna is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgeries.

Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center renamed its orthopedic building the Sofija and Jorge O. Galante Orthopedic Building. The late Jorge Galante, MD, joined Rush in 1972, eventually serving as the first chairman of the orthopedic surgery department. 

Andreas Gomoll, MD, implanted Cartiheal's Agili-C in two patients in an investigational device exemption study at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Gomoll is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and principal investigator in the study.
