Here are eight orthopedic surgeons making headlines this week.
Tampa-based Florida Orthopaedic Institute added orthopedic surgeon Evan Loewy, MD, Sept. 3. Dr. Loewy completed an orthopedic surgery residency at University of South Florida in Miami and a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at OrthoCarolina.
Orthopedic surgeon Victor Prisk, MD, sued New England Patriots' Antonio Brown, alleging the wide receiver failed to pay for his services as a wellness coach. Mr. Brown, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player, reportedly sought Dr. Prisk's services as a wellness coach, which cost $500 per hour. Dr. Prisk alleges Mr. Brown owes him $11,500 and has sued to recover the payments.
Anchorage (Alaska) Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic welcomed a husband-wife orthopedic surgery team to its practice Sept. 16. Patricia Fox, MD, is a hand and upper extremity surgeon, specializing in treating all injuries and conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Rabun Fox, MD, is a foot and ankle surgeon, providing surgical care in the latest minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques.
Beaver Dam, Wis.-based Institute of Movement and Orthopedics at Beaver Dam Community Hospital and Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System added orthopedic surgeon Raj Rangarajan, MD. Dr. Rangarajan completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles and offers a wide range of general orthopedic surgeries.
Orthopedic surgeon Travis Littleton, MD, joined OrthoAtlanta. Dr. Littleton completed fellowship training in hand and upper extremity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center this year. He has been on several medical missions in the U.S., as well as Haiti, Puerto Rico, Jordan, Honduras and Ghana.
Greenwich, Conn.-based Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Specialists added Heeren Makanji, MD, and Kevin Choo, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Makanji is an orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in complex cervical and lumbar reconstruction and Dr. Choo is a joint replacement surgeon specializing in primary hip and knee replacements.
