The orthopedic clinic of CHI Health's Lakeside Hospital in Omaha was hit with a ransomware attack that locked computer system access, according to a report from Live Well Nebraska.
The health system reported an EHR database was hit on Aug. 1, and the affected records included information from patients who were seen at the Lakeside Orthopedic Clinic prior to April 2016.
While the health system did not detect evidence of improper access to the clinic's records, it did notify patients of the incident to comply with regulatory requirements.
The clinic now includes five orthopedic surgeons focused on sports medicine, hand surgery, trauma and upper extremities.
