A West Virginia orthopedic surgeon was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to writing fraudulent prescriptions for controlled substances, according to WDTV.
Three key notes:
1. Chad Poage, DO, admitted to writing 30 fraudulent prescriptions over a three-year period, which he filled for personal use. He used a colleague's DEA number for the prescription.
2. He previously practiced orthopedic surgery in Morgantown and Fairmont, W.Va. He used a stolen drivers license to pick up the prescriptions.
3. Dr. Poage was sentenced to five years of probation and 500 hours of community service.
