A. Rashard Dacus, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at UVA Health in Charlottesville, Va.
Dr. Dacus joined the health system's orthopedic surgery department in August 2007. There, he offers orthopedic joint replacement and microvascular surgery, as well as treatment for hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder trauma and sports-related injuries.
Dr. Dacus was recently appointed to serve as vice chair for diversity and clinician wellness. He is also associate team physician for Harrisonburg, Va.-based James Madison University Athletics, a position he's held since 2008.
Dr. Dacus directed UVA's orthopedic surgery residency program for nine years. UVA's chief residents have awarded Dr. Dacus the faculty teaching award four times.
Dr. Dacus earned his medical degree from the UVA School of Medicine, completed a residency at Atlanta-based Emory University School of Medicine, and completed fellowship training at The University of California, San Diego.
