Telemedicine is helping small clinics stay in business during the COVID-19 pandemic, orthopedic surgeon Roger Componovo, MD, said in an interview with FOX56 WOLF.
Dr. Componovo, who practices at East Stroudsburg, Pa.-based Mountain Valley Orthopedics, told the local news outlet he has been surprised by how well telemedicine has been working.
"Patients have been able to tilt their phones and show me their actual knee wound or actual hip wound. I can tell if they're swollen," he said. "I can tell if their wound is healed, so it's been pretty good, actually."
According to Dr. Componovo, telemedicine has also been essential to staying in business and helping patients through the continuum of care.
About an hour away from Mountain Valley Orthopedics, Geisinger health system in Danville, Pa., is also relying heavily on telemedicine video visits. It is logging "well over" 3,000 telemedicine visits per day, an executive told FOX56.
