The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recently awarded accreditation for FundamentalVR's orthopedic training technology, Med-Tech Innovation News reports.
Four things to know:
1.The Fundamental Surgery platform, designed by the surgical tech provider, is reportedly the first educational surgical simulation system that fuses VR with the sensation of touch.
2. By simulating the physical cues of surgical actions, medical tools and tissue variations, surgeons can experience the same sights, sounds and feelings as they would in a real procedure.
3. Orthopedic surgeons are "scored" based on their knowledge and skill set, which is aligned with the academy's requirements for competency.
4. Time magazine recognized the technology as one of the best inventions of 2018.
