OrthoSouth to outfit former rehab hospital with new clinic, ASC — 5 things to know

Orthopedic

Memphis, Tenn.-based OrthoSouth is redeveloping a former rehab hospital to accommodate a new clinic and a larger surgery center, according to the Memphis Business Journal.

Five things to know:

1. OrthoSouth, which has a team of 39 physicians and 359 employees, will move its existing location into the renovated building. Both are in Germantown, Tenn.

2. As part of a larger $20 million redevelopment, a $5.78 million building permit was filed Sept. 4 for the 111,000-square-foot medical office building.

3. The project includes four phases of demolition, as well as the buildout of a 30,000-square-foot ASC on the first floor, a non-invasive procedure room and twice the existing number of patient recovery rooms. All six operating rooms will be put into use.

4. The clinic is expected to open in February 2021, and the surgery center is slated for a fall 2021 opening. The project will double the space of OrthoSouth's existing Germantown location.

5. Physicians affiliated with OrthoSouth have operated in the surgery center since 2000. OrthoSouth purchased the surgery center in 2018.
