From a physician who operated on an NFL quarterback to another who has raised a significant amount of money in his race for the U.S. Senate, here are the latest orthopedic surgeons making the news:

Eugene Curry, MD, operated on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, repairing a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle.

Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute appointed Daryl Osbahr, MD, managing director and chief of orthopedic surgery of Rothman Florida.

Al Gross, MD, reportedly raised more than $14 million in his race for the U.S. Senate, $9.1 million of which has been raised since July 1.

The Association of American Colleges presented Cato Laurencin, MD, PhD, with the 2020 Herbert W. Nickens Award for his contributions to promoting justice in medical education and healthcare equity.

After being excluded from The Steadman Clinic's acquisition of OrthoAspen (Colo.), Tomas Pevny, MD, and Mark Purnell, MD, agreed to join Glenwood Springs, Colo.-based ValleyOrtho.

Mark Jones, MD, was appointed to the board of directors of Hanger Inc., a provider of orthotic and prosthetic products.
