In the past two months, Becker's has reported on five orthopedic groups developing flagship facilities with surgery centers:
1. Fargo, N.D.-based Northern Neurosurgery & Spine is set to lease space in a $16 million medical facility with a surgery center in Duluth, Minn., combining clinical and surgical care under one roof. Construction is set to begin in June and end in late 2021.
2. Coastal Orthopedics is planning an 88,000-square-foot facility medical center and headquarters in Bradenton, Fla. The facility will include a surgery center, physical therapy, offices and imaging services. Construction is set for completion in spring 2022.
3. University of Tennessee Medical Center and OrthoTennessee are developing an orthopedic institute in Knoxville, Tenn., with an orthopedic ASC and a research center.
4. Bradley, Ill.-based Oak Orthopedics broke ground on a $15.5 million surgery center in Bourbonnais, Ill. The 43,700-square-foot facility will feature a medical clinic, radiology suite and an ASC with three operating rooms.
5. Watauga Orthopaedics received approval to build a $17 million surgery center in Johnson City, Tenn. The four-operating room surgery center is expected to open in 18 to 24 months.
