Surgeon retiring early after 19 years with orthopedic group

Orthopedic

Orthopedic surgeon Joel Rohrbough, MD, is retiring from Northern Arizona Orthopaedics, the Arizona Daily Sun reported on Dec. 12.

Dr. Rohrbough's 19 years with HOPCo-managed Northern Arizona Orthopedics — which has locations in Flagstaff, Prescott Valley, Lakeside and Sedona — included three terms as president.

Additionally, Dr. Rohrbough has served as medical director of Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona Healthcare's outpatient surgery center and as co-manager of its orthopedic management company. He was an orthopedic consultant for Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona University Athletics and its Center for High Altitude Training.

Before his time at Northern Arizona Orthopaedics, Dr. Rohrbough practiced at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.

Dr. Rohrbough, 54, is retiring early to focus on involvement with nonprofits and charities where he can make the most difference. His plans aren't firm, but he has been researching national and international charities.

"I'm spending a huge amount of emotional equity and time here, and I would like to leverage that sort of energy into things that I think are potentially even more important than a shoulder," he told the Daily Sun.
