Smith+Nephew has teamed with Hall of Fame Health to offer its digital health portfolio to former NFL players seeking joint replacement through a quality care network.
Hall of Fame Health, a program founded by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, provides former players, employees and their families access to health plans with in-network availability to high-quality hospitals, physicians and orthopedic centers.
Hall of Fame Health partners with surgeons and facilities that demonstrate superior outcomes and certify those locations as Centers of Excellence. The partnership aims to augment other healthcare options for former players, such as those available through the NFL and its Player Care Foundation, which assists NFL retirees.
"Our mission has been to provide world-class services to former NFL players and their families, and to do so in a way where the programs we build can have a greater impact across our communities," Jeremy Hogue, CEO of Hall of Fame Health, said in a Jan. 27 news release.
The program launched in October with 13 health systems, including Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, Tenn., and HCA Houston Healthcare.
