A Michigan-based orthopedic surgeon's license was suspended following allegations of negligence and inappropriate behavior toward patients, according to a Fox 17 news report.
Four things to know:
1. On Feb. 2, the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery fined Raymond Allard, DO, $10,500 and suspended his license for a year to resolve a complaint filed in June 2020. The department of licensing and regulatory affairs summarily suspended Dr. Allard's license when the complaint was lodged.
2. The complaint alleged Dr. Allard failed to release a patient's medical records, provided patient information to another person and made inappropriate sexual advances toward a patient.
3. Dr. Allard faced disciplinary action and was put under probation in 2019 for failing to meet the standard of care in diagnosing patients and performing orthopedic surgery. He was also cited for not maintaining patient charts and unprofessional interaction with patients and staff.
4. Dr. Allard will have to meet certain terms, including completing a professional assessment, to reinstate his license, according to the report.
