Orthopedic surgeon who had COVID-19 has successful lung transplant

Carl Seon, MD, of UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., underwent a double lung transplant after complications of COVID-19, local CBS affiliate KDKA reports.

Dr. Seon, an orthopedic surgeon, was diagnosed with COVID-19 in December and has been hospitalized since then. He developed pulmonary fibrosis as a complication of the virus.

He received a double lung transplant at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh Feb. 25, and it went well, the report said.
