Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine appointed four vice chairs in the department of orthopedic surgery, according to a May 10 announcement.
David Bumpass, MD, is vice chair for research. He joined UAMS in 2015 as an orthopedic spine surgeon and will oversee the growth of UAMS' orthopedics labs and encourage research efforts.
Steven Cherney, MD, is vice chair for education. He's an orthopedic trauma surgeon and will provide leadership for UAMS' residency program.
Simon Mears, MD, PhD, is vice chair of quality and safety. He joined UAMS in 2014 as a joint replacement surgeon and will lead efforts to measure quality and improve patient outcomes.
Theresa Wyrick, MD, is vice chair for faculty development. She's an orthopedic hand surgeon and joined in 2019. She will work on faculty mentorship, retention and leadership development.
