Orthopedic surgeon Frances Farley, MD, was recently named Shriners Hospitals for Children's new chief medical officer.

Dr. Farley received her medical degree from Weill Cornell University Medical College in New York City and completed her residency at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. She completed a pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.

She practiced pediatric orthopedics at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital for 26 years — 18 of those as chief of pediatric orthopedic surgery.

"Dr. Farley has an impressive background in pediatric orthopaedics, as well as a strong academic record," Jerry Gantt, chair of Shriners' board of trustees. "These qualities will enhance Shriners Hospitals’ ability to provide the highest-quality, innovative care to our patients, which is always our first priority, as well as positively impact our standing in the academic community."
