Christus Good Shepherd Health System broke ground July 20 on a $35 million project that will expand its NorthPark campus and create the first orthopedic institute in Longview, Texas, according to the Longview News-Journal.
The project will transform the health system's Institute for Healthy Living into the Christus Good Shepherd Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute, adding 27,000 square feet of space and dedicated operating rooms for orthopedic surgery at NorthPark, according to the report.
The Institute for Healthy Living will be integrated into the recovery process for orthopedic and sports medicine services provided at the center.
"There is absolutely nothing else like this in Longview," Good Shepherd Health System President and CEO Todd Hancock told the publication. "We are creating the first of its kind in Longview — an entire campus dedicated to orthopedic care."
The campus aims to offer one location that provides integrated, multidisciplinary care for orthopedics, including physician visits, diagnostic imaging, surgery, rehab and recovery.
Construction is set to begin in August and be completed by fall 2022, according to the report. Christus Good Shepherd Hospital NorthPark is projected to open in spring 2023.
