Frank Schwab, MD, is the new chair of orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Schwab also was appointed Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health's chief of orthopedic spine surgery and vice president of orthopedic surgery for the health system's western region, according to an Oct. 12 news release.
He is tasked with driving program development and growth across orthopedic specialties, ensuring quality patient outcomes and helping with the strategic expansion of Northwell's spine services. At the same time, Dr. Schwab will maintain his clinical practice treating spine patients.
Before joining Northwell Health, Dr. Schwab spent six years at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery, where he was most recently vice chair of innovation. He also developed the first definitive classification of adult spinal deformity, founded a medical device company and has written nearly 600 peer-reviewed publications.
