Lincoln (Neb.) Orthopaedic Center and Nebraska Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, also in Lincoln, have kicked off the new year as a merged entity, the Lincoln Journal Star reported Jan. 3.
The two independent practices have merged to form Nebraska Orthopaedic Center, which comprises about 240 employees and 24 physicians, including four spine surgeons and two hip and knee surgeons, according to its website.
The combined entity has 21 locations, including a surgery center, and plans to open an urgent care center as part of the merger.
"We are committed to working with our community as partners in this endeavor and increasing the availability of specialty orthopaedic care in the region," James Gallentine, MD, formerly of Nebraska Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, told the publication.
