From the first in its region to add a Mako robot, to the largest in Mississippi, here are five orthopedic practices to know:
1. Heartland Orthopedic Specialists (Alexandria, Minn.). Heartland Orthopedic Specialists has been locally and nationally recognized for excellence in joint replacement procedures. The practice has six locations throughout Minnesota.
2. Mehling Orthopedics (Hackensack, N.J.). Mehling Orthopedics was founded by Brian Mehling, MD. The practice's providers have been recognized nationally for their work with awards, research presentations and memberships in medical organizations.
3. Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates (Sailsbury, Md.). Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates has seven locations throughout Maryland and Delaware. The practice most recently added the eastern shore region's first Mako robot for joint replacements.
4. Bienville Orthopaedics Specialists (Gautier, Miss.). Bienville Orthopaedics Specialists is the largest orthopedic provider in Mississippi with five locations and 18 providers. In September 2020, the practice was first in the state to perform the prone transpsoas technique.
5. Orthopedic Center of Illinois (Springfield). The Orthopedic Center of Illinois has six locations throughout the state, all of which have been named Centers of Excellence. The practice also has a foundation that supports patient education, continuing medical education and charitable organizations.
