From a practice that treats elite athletes to one that has earned several national awards, here are five orthopedic practices to know:
1. New England Orthopedic Surgeons (Springfield, Mass.). New England Orthopedic Surgeons is the only subspecialized comprehensive orthopedic surgical practice in Western Massachusetts. The practice has 19 physicians whose specialties range from wrist arthroscopy and complex primary joint replacement to shoulder and knee surgery.
2. Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute has a care team of 28 orthopedic physicians, 29 advanced practice providers and 30 athletic trainers. The team covers nine subspecialties and has performed 5,347 surgeries. The practice has seen more than 80,000 patients visits, caring for Florida residents and sports teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat.
3. Coon Joint Replacement Institute (St. Helena, Calif.). The Coon Joint Replacement Institute is operated by Adventist Health St. Helena. It is one of a few practices in the area to offer robotic-assisted partial knee resurfacing. The practice has won several awards, including earning Healthgrades' Joint Replacement Excellence Award for six years in a row.
4. Advanced Orthopedic Specialists (Cape Girardeau, Mo.). Advanced Orthopedic Specialists has a team of three fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, some of whom have performed nearly 10,000 procedures and provide the practice a combined 46 years of experience in orthopedic care.
5. Hope Orthopedics of Oregon (Salem). Hope Orthopedics of Oregon has two locations with a third being added in Dallas, Ore. The practice was formed with the merger of four competing groups in 2009. The clinic includes 14 surgeons whose specialties include trauma care, hip and knee surgery and sports medicine.
