FFL Partners, the private equity organization that backs U.S. Orthopaedic Partners, has invested in Perlman Clinic, a primary and urgent care provider in San Diego.

Founded in 2005, Perlman Clinic has 16 facilities with more than 100 primary care providers, according to an April 18 news release. The organization provides internal, family medicine, integrative, preventive and mental health services to more than 75,000 patients and has fee-for-service and capitated primary care contracts with leading health plans in Southern California.

"Primary care is a longtime focus of FFL's seed process to identify subsectors where we can add the greatest value, and we look forward to partnering with this talented team to accelerate their growth in one of the nation’s fastest-growing markets," Chris Harris, managing partner, said in the release.

Heather Gartin, director of FFL Partners, said in the release that the San Diego area has "attractive commercial and senior population demographics" and sees significant opportunity for growth as the Perlman Clinic "launches new site openings, acquires practices and expands its telemedicine services."

FFL Partners healthcare businesses include U.S. Orthopaedic Partners, EyeCare Partners and One Senior Care, an inclusive care program for elderly providers.
