Retired orthopedic surgeon vies for Congress

A retired orthopedic surgeon is running for the congressional seat in Oregon's 5th District, The Statesman Journal reported April 22.

John Di Paola, MD, started a practice in 1998 called Occupational Orthopedics in Tualatin, Ore., and later sold it when he retired in 2020. His practice is dedicated to treating injured workers.

Dr. Di Paola's interest in medicine was sparked when he was an assistant at a hospital, according to the report. He completed medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark.

Three others are vying for the Republican nomination in the district. The seat is held by Democrat Kurt Schrader.
