Alaska Orthopedic surgeon Al Gross, MD, has withdrawn from the special and general elections for the U.S. House.
"It is with great hope for Alaska's future that I have decided to end my campaign to become our state's next congressman," Dr. Gross said in a June 20 news release. "There are two outstanding Alaska Native women in this race who would both serve our state well, and I encourage my supporters to stay engaged and consider giving their first-place vote to whichever of them best matches their own values."
Dr. Gross placed third after the June 11 special primary election with 48 candidates and was set to advance to the ranked choice election in August with three other candidates, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, according to the Anchorage Daily News.
