Heartland Regional Hospital opens orthopedic plaza

Orthopedic

Marion, Ill.-based Heartland Regional Hospital on June 28 opened a 15,000-square-foot facility that will house orthopedics, family practice and imaging services, according to The Southern Illinoisan.

The imaging department will include a CT scanner, fluoro X-ray and ultrasound imaging, and is looking to add an MRI, CEO Ed Cunningham told the publication.

The facility is expected to benefit patients and providers in the community and help attract more providers to the area, according to the report.

Richard Morgan, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with more than 40 years of experience in sports medicine and joint replacement, was hired to lead the hospital's orthopedic program in 2020. His practice, the Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois, has locations in Paducah, Ky., and Herrin, Carbondale, Harrisburg and Metropolis in Illinois.
