Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Sand Creek Orthopedic Associates, a subsidiary of Golden State Orthopedic and Spine, will purchase a 30,000-square-foot property in Brentwood, Calif., that previously served as a campus for Los Medanos College, according to The Brentwood Press.
The Brentwood City Council on July 26 unanimously approved the sale of the property, which has a fair market value of $1.6 million, according to the report. The location appealed to the orthopedic group because it is close to a major intersection where other residential and commercial developments are in the works.
The sale is projected to close on Jan. 31, with Sand Creek Orthopedic Associates aiming to occupy the facility 12 months later.
Forty-nine administrative staff would relocate to the center by 2024, and 30 new employees are expected to be hired by 2025, according to the report. MRI services would provide four technical jobs, while a potential urgent care unit would provide six clinical positions.
Phase two of the development, which has a Jan. 31, 2027, deadline, would add 30 exam rooms and relocate two clinics from other areas of the city to the new facility. Overall, the development would provide about 125 jobs, including 16 physicians and 10 physician assistants.
