Exactech's Spartan stem and Logical cup system for hip replacements was released in a commercial launch.
Hasham Alvi, MD, of Schaumburg, Ill.-based Barrington Orthopedic Specialists, performed the first U.S. case with the device, according to an Aug. 16 news release from the devicemaker.
The Spartan system has three offset options, and the Logical cup is designed for highly active patients. The hip system aims to allow for efficient surgical workflows.
"The Spartan stem and Logical cup systems adapt seamlessly to my preferred anterior hip surgical technique and feature a highly customizable construct engineered to assist in advantageous positioning of offset and leg length," Dr. Alvi said in the release.
