City planners in Venice, Fla., are not only planning to adopt new regulations for pain clinics but may also add an expiration date so that the city council will revisit the law in a few years, according to a Herald-Tribune article.
The planning commission has recommended that the council approve a change in the land development code which will impose strict regulations on pain management clinics. Under the proposed ordinance the clinics will only be allowed in certain commercial, professional and medical districts if the owner is granted a special exemption in a public hearing.
The proposed regulations also prohibit pharmacies at the same locations and impose requirements on operating hours. Clinics will also have to post "no loitering" signs.
The expiration date provision will require city leaders to evaluate the success of the ordinance.
