Here are ten device companies that recently launched orthopedic products or received FDA approval for the products.

1. Integra LifeSciences' Ruggles kerrison rongeurs. The Ruggles kerrison rongeurs is a spinal surgery system with the detachable feature have been cleared by the FDA. The design allows for easier cleaning and a special coating helps maintain the instrument's sharpness.

2. Aesculap Implant's S4 Cervical Occipital Plating System.
The S4 System is used to promote spinal fusion of the cervical thoracic spine and accipito-cervico-thoracic junction in patients with degenerative disease or fracture.

3. K2M's CHESAPEAKE.
CHESAPEAKE is an interbody device designed to stabilize the spine through an anterior approach. The system includes the tifix locking technology for screw fixation, in which each screw head forms an autogenic lock to the implant upon insertion.

4. Mazor's SpineAssist and C-Insight.
The combined SpineAssist navigation and C-InSight imaging system for use during treatment of spinal compression fractures as well as other vertebral surgical problems has received FDA approval.

5. DePuy Mitek's OMNISPAN. OMNISPAN is a meniscal repair system that includes a low-profile needle preloaded with two PEEK backstops and a proprietary ORTHOCORD suture. The system is designed for physicians to employ all-inside techniques, which is a less invasive surgery than the traditional inside-out or outside-in approach

6. Wright Medical Group's EVOLUTION.
EVOLUTION is a medial-pivot knee system designed to help ease the rehabilitation process and decrease joint-slipping sensations for the patients. The system's 'ball-in-socket mechanism' on the medial side is designed to promote stability and range of motion.

7. NuOrtho's Ceruleau. The Ceruleau is a surgical probe designed to leave less damage on the cartilage when performing surgery for injuries or lesions on the knees and shoulders. In most severe injury cases, surgeons using Ceruleau will not need to use screws or plates for the patient.

8. Binder Biomedical 's NEWTON. The NEWTON Invertebral Body Fusion Spinal Spacer System allows for anterior, posterior and lateral insertion angles to reach the invertebral disc space.

9. DePuy Mitek's Versalok Peek. The Versalok Peek is completely radiolucent and knotless and designed to allow sutures to be affixed without knot-tying as well as eliminate the need to pre-awl a pilot hole.

10. Trans1's AxiaLIF 2L+. AxiaLIF 2L+ product line which includes instrumentation and an implant system for the L4-S1 lumbar fusion. It is designed to make lumbar fusions around the L4-S1 region of the spine less invasive than other techniques.
